Citizenship in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, OR you already have the appropriate visa to work as an Au Pair when a visa is required
Minimum age 18 years; maximum age 31 years (depending on the country)
You must speak either the host country’s language or English at a basic level, so that you can have everyday discussions with the children, parents, and outside of the home in work or social situations
Some childcare experience, such as babysitting in private families, being a club leader or camp counsellor with children. You must be able to provide a minimum of two written references from different families or organisations to prove your experience.
No qualification is necessary, although showing interest in the field by taking a childcare course, for example, is highly recommended as it show your motivation
First aid and CPR course is not required, but highly recommended (families are more likely to choose someone who prioritises children’s safety)
Commitment to work for 6-12 months (most families request 11-12 months)
